Mikan Japanese Cuisine, Damansara Perdana

Posted on Posted in Food, Food Review

For those who has been to Mikan at Maju Junction Mall, well they moved to Damansara Perdana. The outlet in Damansara Perdana is smaller, but very cosy.

Mentai Tamagoyaki (RM8)
Creamy Japanese egg omelette topped with cod roe mayo and butter oat . Simply divine.

Ebi Pan (RM6)
Deep fried baguette infused with tiger shrimp
They have their unique way of just massaging the tiger shrimp into the baguette. I really don’t know how they did it but it’s amazing.

Salmon Trout Sashimi (RM20)
I must say that their salmon is one of the freshest in town.

Hazuki Sushi (RM4 per piece)
Jade perch Sushi
Slightly charred on top changes everything. And besides, where can you find Hazuki sushi anywhere in KL? This is the only place I know.. And it tastes really good. It’s not like butter fish, believe me. It’s different.
Volcano Roll (RM18)
Unagi in the center, Leek, Bonito flakes and Mikan’s special sauce on top.
Dragon Roll (RM16)
Tiger Prawn, Avocado and Shrimp Roe
I love the presentation of the dragon maki. For the first time, it’s arranged differently. In this case, a flower. It actually looks like a curled up dragon. Beautiful isn’t it?
The tempura coating adds in a lot more texture to the maki. The ingredients in the maki is fantastic, no doubt in that.

Looks good, doesn’t it? (:

Uni Tofu
Fresh soy tofu topped with sea urchin paste
This is the bomb. The soy tofu is bland and smooth as silk.. No shit it’s bland. You can’t go wrong with that. But when paired with the sea urchin paste, oh my, my, my! I can’t even express how divine it is, but you’ve got to have it when it’s hot. It would taste a lil’ icky and jelak when cold. It keeps you wanting more, trust me. Ebi Niniku Mayo Yaki (RM7.60 per stick)
Seared crunchy fresh tiger shrimp skewers with garlic mayo sauce. Lovely.

Pork Lard Rice (RM6)
Garlic rice with lots of prok lard.. I wouldn’t mind having this twice a week! The pork lard adds in much more flavour to the rice and a bit of crunchiness.

Buta Kakuni (RM22)
Simmered Pork
Now this tender pork and fatty layer goes superbly well with the Japanese rice (Not so much of the pork lard rice because it already has so much flavour on its own.)

Papaya Juice (RM8)
Young papaya juice. No sugar added yet it’s so sweet. This is one healthy drink you’d want to order.
