Beer-battered Catfish Tacos ($14)
Soft shell corn tortillas with beer-battered catfish, guacamole, black beans, fennel and citrus slaw
I must say, it’s a huge mess to eat. Not the best taco I’ve had, but it’s alright. I’d describe it as fish and chips in a taco… without the chips.

Grilled Beef Burger with fries $19
Su Yin and Lance said the burger was nice, apart from having troubles eating it with all the dripping sauce and overload of ingredients in a burger.

Beer-battered Fish and Chips $24
I can’t remember what the fish of the day was, but it was super fresh and sweet. I don’t like having it in small pieces though, too much batter. The salad greens were yummy.

Meep . Meep meep . :3 Sorry, I just had to . It just looks so adorable . 😛

Caesar Salad with extra topping of salmon.
This is lovely , but it’s so common, it’s just another Caesar Salad.
S: RM9.90++, M: RM12.90++, L: RM14.90++
+Smoke Salmon: RM11.90++
+Australian Beef Salami: RM3.90++

Wild Mushroom Soup (S: RM8.90++ , L: RM10.90++)
It’s probably one of the best things I had here. It’s really wild mushroom soup, not one of those canned Campell soups or the instant packets.

That’s my crepe on the pan!

Mushroom and Cream Crepe (RM22.90++)
Lovely. Probably it’s just me, I loveee mushrooms !

Australian Rib Eye (RM40.90++)
For that price .. NO . And the amount of fats.. Oh gosh, I’d rather have something else .

The most pathetic Carbonara I’ve ever seen. Does it even look like a Carbonara? (S:RM16.90++ L:RM25.90++)

Spanish Paella in makin’!

Spanish Paella (RM22.90++)
This is something really worth the price. It’s so refreshing and the rice was just al dente. Beautiful.

White Chocolate Cheese Cake (RM7.90++)

Blueberry Crepe with Strawberry topping and 2 scoops of Caramel Häagen-Dazs Ice cream (RM24.90++)
Without the ice cream, it would only cost you RM14.90++
Yummy yummy . But I find the crepe gets hard a lil’ too fast .. Something just doesn’t feel right.

I didn’t take pictures of their Rosti , but they are GOOD .
Plain Rosti (RM8.90++)
Toppings
Smoked Salmon (RM11.90++)
Cheddar Cheese (RM6.90++)
Fried Egg (RM2++)
Any sausage (RM10.90++)
Sauteed Mushrooms (RM10.90++)
Homemade Beef Meatballs In Fresh Mixed Berries Sauce  (RM12.50++)
When we were leaving, I saw the couple in front of us paying about RM290 ! Goodness gracious me! I don’t think it’s worth your money to come here to had a full meal! It’s just too costly.

Private Kitchen, Damansara Uptown

Posted on 6 CommentsPosted in Food, Food Review, Photography

Last night , I had dinner at this little place behind Maybank (nearer to the construction area) at Uptown for dinner. I had a great dinner. It’s relatively new, so you guys should go check it out and give some of your feedback to the restaurant! (;

_MG_1000

Herbal drink of the day – Barley with special herbs

_MG_1093

Love at First Sight Floral Tea (RM5)

_MG_1002

Long Spring Rolls (RM10)
Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside . It’s a little oily on my opinion , but that’s what makes it’s so yummy . Isn’t it ?

_MG_1028

Shredded Chicken with Private Kitchen Special ‘Ma La’ Sauce (RM12)
Initially, I thought the cucumbers were the main ingredient accompanied by the shredded chicken. Apparently not ! Silly me .. Anyway , the shreded chicken is a little spicy and sour at the same time accompanied with pickled cucumbers like the ones you find in acars .

_MG_1019

Long Boiled Soup of the Day (RM6)
This boiled soup is definitely a must have to accompany the other dishes that you would be ordering. Firstly, it cleanses your palate , secondly, it just refreshens you and ready to move on to main dishes. Heads up for you guys, every bowl would contain different amount of meat and arrowhead.

_MG_1036

Cantonese Chicken with Sand Ginger Sauce
I’ve tried many kinds of steamed chicken , this is relatively good. It’s different from the normal ‘pak cham kai’ you have at chicken rice stalls as it has more ginger to it. Honestly, I hate ginger. But for all you ginger-haters out there, go ahead and take a bite. Trust me, it’s so mild, you can’t even taste a tinsy bit of ginger.

_MG_1041

Private Kitchen Stir Fried Prime Beef Fillet with Strawberry Pepper Sauce (RM28)
I had a shock when the lady served the dish and said it’s stir fried with STRAWBERRY pepper sauce. I thought she was joking. Goodness gracious me ! This is the best fusion version of stir fried black pepper sauce beef ! Juicy meat accompanied with strong pepper taste with a strawberry after taste. The strawberry doesn’t overpower the meat nor the pepper sauce. It was just divinely perfect .

_MG_1060

Private Kitchen Sautéed Chinese Chives with Dried Shrimp and Shredded Dried Cuttlefish (RM18)
Not many would enjoy this dish . It’s the Chinese Chives I tell you .. Also known as garlic chives, it’s quite an aquired taste especially to those who rarely eat this veggie.

_MG_1055

Pan Fried Pork Chop Lemongrass (RM25)
This is another fabulous dish . First bite’s the best, as you can instantly taste the lemongrass with a hint of citrus. I treat this like a snack, something you can just munch on as you’re in a conversation with your company.

_MG_1079

Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Special Salad Sauce (RM32)
Juicy tender pork ribs with a bold hint of mustard mayonnaise . I’m not too sure what is in the salad sauce, but it taste so delicious . End of discussion, you’re ordering this!

_MG_1073

Portugese-Style Fried Rice with Braised Pork Belly & Seafood (RM16)
Nothing big to shout about. It’s fried rice but ala portugese !

BBQ @ Kannichikan Yakiniku Restaurant

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Food, Photography

I’ve invited V-Ki to have dinner with my mum and I at Kannichikan Yakiniku Restaurant @ Desa Sri Hartamas. Sort form for the name is KnK. Did you know there’s a lot of Japanese living there? It’s almost like a Japanese colony!! Anyway, we were having a korean/japanese style barbeque. We’ve ordered lots of raw meat and had fun grilling them on the healthy charcoal fire. You think the charcoal is bad? Well, the charcoal isn’t, I’m telling you. It gives out less smoke, burns your skin lesser (when they ‘explode’), lasts longer and has bigger fire.

P1060642

When they have the red cloth banner out, it means they’re open! Well, I need to tell you this because you might think its closed because the doors are shut.

P1060643

Not a really pleasant looking place, but its for health’s sake. (: Anyway, the food made me forget about how it looks.

P1060645

Their alcohol range. Many weird names that even I don’t recognise except Sake.

P1060647

Ain’t this pretty? The huge word printed on it meant white.

P1060653

Mixed Kim Chi (RM10)
From left to right, chinese-cabbage, white radish and Cucumber Kim Chi.
The cucumber one isn’t really appetizing, the cabbage is more delicious compared to the white radish. Overall, the kim chi isn’t as spicy and sour as the ones they eat in Korea. This one is just nice for the locals like you and me.

P1060657

Beef Sashimi (RM23)
YUM. Its really raw beef mixed with only the egg yolk, white radish and a squeeze of lemon. Don’t worry, only raw chicken and pork meat will harm you. Really, try this one day, it will make you go wild.

P1060661

P1060667

P1060678

Do remember to toss them together before eating! 😀

P1060680

P1060668

Korean Pan-cake (RM17)
Garlic Chives omelette. Not something I would recommend for RM17.. Its something you can cook at home. Ordering this is a big NO, NO.

P1060671

P1060676

BBQ Fish Fillet (RM20)
Saba Fish that is marinated with only salt and pepper. Guess what? It’s the juciest piece of fish I’ve ever eaten!! Especially with a little bit of lemon. OMG. Fantastic. It’s just how you’d like to enjoy a grilled fish. Note, this isn’t oily.

P1060677

P1060687

Sliced Roasted Beef (RM23)
Absolutely lovely. Don’t you just love juicy beef that is slightly cooked and raw at the middle? Well, I love it. Sliced white radish are hiding under the beef along with the white radish sauce on top.

P1060692

P1060694

Chili Lamb Rack (RM23)
I didn’t notice the chilli.. But its hell good.

P1060698

P1060699

RAWR!

P1060771

P1060776

P1060704

For the meat, do dip them in the soy sauce on your table. Yum yum.

P1060705

Premium Wagyu Shortrib (RM58)
Now, since its raw, and you’re the one doing the grilling.. You can try it rare, medium rare or well done. Best thing is if you try them all. If you don’t know how to grill, ask the waiters or waitresses!

P1060710

P1060718

Look at those beauties.. Aren’t they making you drool?

P1060721

Squid (RM18), Scallop (RM18), King Prawn (RM23)
The squid isn’t worth the money but the scallop.. Oh yeah.. The scallop. JUICY. YUMMY. DELICIOUS. What other gorgeous words would you like me to use to make you try them? (: I didn’t try the king prawn.. There were only 2. Do squeeze lemon on them before you consume them! 😀

P1060726

P1060731

The lucky thing for me and V-Ki was that we didn’t need to grill the food. The owner did them for us willingly. We both are really grateful because we are bad at grilling it at its best temperature.

P1060733

P1060743

Japan Kuroge Wagyu Shortrib (RM97)
The ultimate premium  beef you can find here. How do they taste? Stunning. Especially when they’re rare. OH MY. Just so yummy, it makes me drool when I think of them.

P1060745

P1060755

The come with capsicum and melon as well. (: Note: If you haven’t tried grilled capsicum, TRY THEM.

P1060761

Curry Udon Noodles (RM20)
Not really spicy.. At least, for me. I dipped them into the soup because of my awful sore throat. Its getting worse because I didn’t listen to my boyfriend. YES, sorry boss.. ):

P1060762

P1060781

Rice with Korean Vegetables (RM20)
Served in a stone bowl. Literally. Caution, the bowl is extremely hot. Don’t even touch the table after you move its position. I had the bad experience. ): Well, after mixing the rice with a little chilli sauce, the owner distributed some to us. I tried it. A bit like the claypot chicken rice? Except this one isn’t chicken rice, it’s fried rice with vegetables. Oh my, suddenly I’m craving for claypot chicken rice. Teehee.
