Saisaki , Wisma UOA

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Food, Photography

Hi, I’m back with a food review. Sort of, I find my posts more like a laundry list instead. Today’s about Saisaki , the sister restaurant of both Shoguns in One Utama and Sunway Pyramid . One thing about Saisaki, they put really funny/weird/out of this world names for their food. Out of this world as in, okay. I don’t even know how to explain . Examples are like , they named their cincau dessert – Taste and Feel. They named one of their dishes, Taste Until Laugh . And you get the picture… Right? (:

Yum yum..  The amazing selection of makis.

Apparently, the Japanese love yam .. This maki has yam instead of rice.

Each type of maki are so unique. Amazing, how they designed them .

I was greeddyyy, took a plate of different makis. My real intention was to photograph them actually. ;P

The woman on the right pan fries the meat for you. While, on the left, is the ice kacang . LOL

Their sashimi selection’s the best part. Their salmon, OH MY GOD . YOU MUST HAVE THEM!

Fried Shishamo

Prawn Snake Skin

Tofu Fish Cheese Yaki (Honest, I couldn’t taste any cheese.)

Unagi Maki (MYR18)
Eel and cucumber maki. This is good.

One of their daily special maki. I forgot the name though.. (MYR28)

Beef Sukiyaki Set (MYR28)

Zaru Soba (MYR15)
Served with spring onion and quail egg.

They also serve strawberry maki. Odd , but you should try it out! We didn’t have the stomach to try it sadly. /: Do give me the feedbacks on strawberry maki if you tried it. 😀

Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar @ The Gardens 2

Posted on 3 CommentsPosted in Food, Photography

I had a beautiful dinner tonight at Sage Restaurant. Fine dining Japanese-Western Fusion Cuisine. If you think Japanese would not go with Western, think again! To be honest, it was the most satisfying dinner I had since the last time I went to Sage. All you need to make it absolutely perfect is good company and you’re set to go! Trust me, you’ll enjoy it too.

Presenting Chef Daniel who was cooking for us!

Complimentary Bread. Yum.

Sparkling Mojito (Non Alcoholic)
Sour like ice lemon tea, but it’s sparkling, with a tingling sensation!

Tranché of Buri Fish with Akame and Avruga (RM60nett)
I think this dish was made in heaven and served to us. It was so lovely! Every inch of this dish was pure quality. Smell that gorgeous truffle oil. The raw Buri fish was just right, Akame herbs was fragrant, the salt was crystallized and crunchy. The Avruga Caviar was heavenly. And a pinch of wasabi just makes the fish fly. Buri, buri!

Capellini Pasta with Shellfish, Tongarashi Spice (RM60nett)
This dish must be created for Malaysians/Asians. It’s slightly spicy and the Capellini Pasta’s texture is a little like mee suah – very smooth. Very Malaysian-inspired, I suppose. The shellfish – prawns and fish – was the best part. Fresh and juicy. YUM!

Halfway through, we ordered garlic bread just for the heck of it. 😀

Lime and Lemon Granité
Don’t be fooled by its appearance! It’s not just shaved ice! It’s exquisite, expensive spoonfuls of shaved ice! However, this is the perfect snow white, shaved ice with a citrusy tang,  I like!

It was an open kitchen, and we sat exactly where we sat the first time we came – In front of the open kitchen, where we could eye the chefs. Hehe!

Pan-fried Hirame with Sea Scallop and Crustacean Oil (RM95nett)
My mum ordered this for the main course and I had a bite of the fish and a scallop. The fish was not bad, but I really prefer a cod fish. The scallop was nice. (:

Hirame Fish. Yummy spinach leaves.

Almond Crusted Lamb Rack with White Miso and Nasu (RM95nett)
Maybe the chef’s recommendation was better… I had it medium-rare.. He recommended medium-well done. It was too tough for me. ): But the sauteed shitake and himeji mushrooms were gorgeous! Oh, by the way, Nasu is an eggplant. It’s hiding in this picture.. It can be seen underneath the lamb rack in the picture below.

Crépe Suzette with Grand Marnier and Orange Zest (RM30nett)
The Crépe was unexplainable. You would just keep nibbling on it and when it finally finishes, you would long for more. This is a bittersweet Crépe with a dash of Grand Marnier and I kept wanting more! After finishing the crépe, I ‘cleanse’ the rich flavour with the ice cream topped with the orange zest and it made me go ‘Mmmmm…’

After dessert, coffee or tea makes the meal complete.

I tried capture the lovely crested moon. Sadly, it didn’t look so good in the picture.. /:

BBQ @ Kannichikan Yakiniku Restaurant

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Food, Photography

I’ve invited V-Ki to have dinner with my mum and I at Kannichikan Yakiniku Restaurant @ Desa Sri Hartamas. Sort form for the name is KnK. Did you know there’s a lot of Japanese living there? It’s almost like a Japanese colony!! Anyway, we were having a korean/japanese style barbeque. We’ve ordered lots of raw meat and had fun grilling them on the healthy charcoal fire. You think the charcoal is bad? Well, the charcoal isn’t, I’m telling you. It gives out less smoke, burns your skin lesser (when they ‘explode’), lasts longer and has bigger fire.

When they have the red cloth banner out, it means they’re open! Well, I need to tell you this because you might think its closed because the doors are shut.

Not a really pleasant looking place, but its for health’s sake. (: Anyway, the food made me forget about how it looks.

Their alcohol range. Many weird names that even I don’t recognise except Sake.

Ain’t this pretty? The huge word printed on it meant white.

Mixed Kim Chi (RM10)
From left to right, chinese-cabbage, white radish and Cucumber Kim Chi.
The cucumber one isn’t really appetizing, the cabbage is more delicious compared to the white radish. Overall, the kim chi isn’t as spicy and sour as the ones they eat in Korea. This one is just nice for the locals like you and me.

Beef Sashimi (RM23)
YUM. Its really raw beef mixed with only the egg yolk, white radish and a squeeze of lemon. Don’t worry, only raw chicken and pork meat will harm you. Really, try this one day, it will make you go wild.

Do remember to toss them together before eating! 😀

Korean Pan-cake (RM17)
Garlic Chives omelette. Not something I would recommend for RM17.. Its something you can cook at home. Ordering this is a big NO, NO.

BBQ Fish Fillet (RM20)
Saba Fish that is marinated with only salt and pepper. Guess what? It’s the juciest piece of fish I’ve ever eaten!! Especially with a little bit of lemon. OMG. Fantastic. It’s just how you’d like to enjoy a grilled fish. Note, this isn’t oily.

Sliced Roasted Beef (RM23)
Absolutely lovely. Don’t you just love juicy beef that is slightly cooked and raw at the middle? Well, I love it. Sliced white radish are hiding under the beef along with the white radish sauce on top.

Chili Lamb Rack (RM23)
I didn’t notice the chilli.. But its hell good.

For the meat, do dip them in the soy sauce on your table. Yum yum.

Premium Wagyu Shortrib (RM58)
Now, since its raw, and you’re the one doing the grilling.. You can try it rare, medium rare or well done. Best thing is if you try them all. If you don’t know how to grill, ask the waiters or waitresses!

Look at those beauties.. Aren’t they making you drool?

Squid (RM18), Scallop (RM18), King Prawn (RM23)
The squid isn’t worth the money but the scallop.. Oh yeah.. The scallop. JUICY. YUMMY. DELICIOUS. What other gorgeous words would you like me to use to make you try them? (: I didn’t try the king prawn.. There were only 2. Do squeeze lemon on them before you consume them! 😀

The lucky thing for me and V-Ki was that we didn’t need to grill the food. The owner did them for us willingly. We both are really grateful because we are bad at grilling it at its best temperature.

Japan Kuroge Wagyu Shortrib (RM97)
The ultimate premium  beef you can find here. How do they taste? Stunning. Especially when they’re rare. OH MY. Just so yummy, it makes me drool when I think of them.

The come with capsicum and melon as well. (: Note: If you haven’t tried grilled capsicum, TRY THEM.

Curry Udon Noodles (RM20)
Not really spicy.. At least, for me. I dipped them into the soup because of my awful sore throat. Its getting worse because I didn’t listen to my boyfriend. YES, sorry boss.. ):

Rice with Korean Vegetables (RM20)
Served in a stone bowl. Literally. Caution, the bowl is extremely hot. Don’t even touch the table after you move its position. I had the bad experience. ): Well, after mixing the rice with a little chilli sauce, the owner distributed some to us. I tried it. A bit like the claypot chicken rice? Except this one isn’t chicken rice, it’s fried rice with vegetables. Oh my, suddenly I’m craving for claypot chicken rice. Teehee.
